MIDAS S5 Research

MIDAS S5 Research is a research application whose purpose is to collect wearable health data (heart rate, sleep, activity) from consenting participants, via the Google Health API, for a doctoral study on the physiological workload of surgeons at the School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), Greece.

Purpose of this application

The purpose of MIDAS S5 Research is to collect wearable health data, with participant consent, for an academic study measuring the physiological workload of surgeons in daily practice. With each participant’s explicit consent, the application connects to their Google account through the Google Health API and reads a small, read-only set of wearable (Fitbit) measurements:

These measurements are combined with short questionnaires and a brief attention test to study how surgical work affects strain and recovery. All data is pseudonymized, stored in the European Union, used only for scientific research, and never sold or used for advertising.
